NON-NEWSPAPER
(Out-of-Language)

Publication in form of a newspaper about language, translation, frustration and being-a-stranger.

Out of frustration of having to design a newspaper in a foreign language I couldn’t speak, and thereof the lack of understanding its content, I decided to address this feeling by creating an alternative newspaper — the Non-Newspaper.
   Here, the foreign language is being repeatedly translated with the google translator app and saved as images, which ends up creating (typographically interesting) nonsense.
   A selection of essays by various authors, such as Julia Kristeva, Roland Barthes and Eva Hoffman, accompanies the translation images and deals with the topic of translation and being out-of-language itself.
It also includes a short essay written by myself that tries to embody the feelings I felt in a typographic and literary way — in waves, fluid, in motion.
